Find Your Next Chapter with Clarity and Authority

INTERNATIONAL CAREER TRANSITION COACHING FOR JAPAN

You are not simply changing jobs or countries.

You are moving between systems, expectations and ways of being recognised professionally, between Japan and the rest of the world.

My role is to help you navigate that transition with clarity and strategy so you do not lose yourself, your impact, or your direction along the way.

When Your Career Sits Between Japan and the World

CAREER TRANSITION CHALLENGES BETWEEN JAPAN AND INTERNATIONAL CONTEXTS

Relocating to or from Japan is rarely just a practical move. It often reshapes your authority, your identity and your direction. You may recognise yourself here if:

You are moving to Japan for a leadership role

You are leaving Japan after several years

You are trying to understand what comes next after Japan has changed your trajectory

This is not a simple career move.

It is a deeper transition across cultures.

Often, the experience feels like this:

You feel caught between two worlds

You question your value more than before

You fear starting over again

You do not want to lose what Japan has taught or changed in you

Why This Work Needs More Than Generic Career Advice

WHY WORK WITH A COACH WHO UNDERSTANDS BOTH SIDES OF THE JAPAN TRANSITION

You do not need generic relocation advice. You need someone who understands the real pressures and trade-offs of building a serious career between Japan and the world.  I have:

Lived and led for 30+ years between France, Japan and North America.

Transitioned to Japan and out of Japan, at senior levels, more than once.

Rebuilt my own authority in three languages and three very different systems.

Coached leaders and senior professionals who now work across Tokyo, Paris, New York and beyond.

I do not observe your reality from a distance. I have lived the ambiguity, the loss of status, the reinvention, the “Who am I now?” that comes with these moves.

If you are navigating a pivot, relocation or re-entry with Japan in the equation, you are in the right place.

What We Work On Together

INTERNATIONAL CAREER TRANSITION COACHING AREAS

This work is practical, strategic and deeply tailored to your situation.
Depending on where you are in the transition, we usually focus on four dimensions.

Clarifying Your Direction

We start by making your situation explicit—professionally, culturally and personally.

YOU WILL:

Clarify what is really changing beyond the country or job title

Identify the options most aligned with your values, ambitions and life constraints

Define your non-negotiables and where you can remain flexible

Reconnect the different parts of your story into a clearer direction

Result: you move from “I have no idea what comes next” to “I see two or three clear paths, and I know how to choose.”

Reclaiming Your Value Between Systems

What is seen as strong leadership in one context may be invisible or misunderstood in another.

TOGETHER, WE WILL:

Translate your experience so it is recognised in the next context

Strengthen how you present your trajectory

Clarify which strengths travel well and which need reframing

Address the loss of confidence that can arise when familiar markers disappear

The goal: understanding the codes with precision, so you no longer feel lost or constantly on trial.

Making Decisions You Can Stand Behind

In international transitions, you often feel pressured to decide quickly: accept the role, move the family, resign, stay, extend, “take the opportunity”.

WE SLOW THIS DOWN TO HELP YOU:

Distinguish between pressure and priority

Test your options against your long-term vision, not only short-term relief.

Set decision criteria that come from you not only from external expectations.

Set decision criteria that come from you not only from external expectations.

Result: you make decisions that you can defend with calm authority, even when others do not fully understand them yet.

Building a Transition That Does Not Break You

A move between Japan and the world is never “just professional”. It affects identity, relationships, finances, health and a sense of belonging.

WE WILL WORK ON

Designing a transition rhythm that protects your energy and mental space.

Managing conflicting loyalties (to your team, your family, your own needs).

Setting healthy boundaries around work and availability during the move.

Creating small, concrete anchors that keep you stable while everything else shifts.

Result: you do not sacrifice yourself to your transition. You stay present, lucid and grounded enough to build what comes next.

WHO INTERNATIONAL CAREER TRANSITION COACHING IS FOR

This service is a strong fit if Japan is central to your transition — whether you are moving to Japan, leaving Japan, or trying to understand what comes next after Japan has changed your trajectory.

It is especially relevant if you:

operate at a senior or strategic level

want more than practical relocation support

need clarity around identity, authority and long-term direction

are willing to reflect deeply and take ownership of your next step

It may not be the right fit if you are only looking for tactical relocation services or quick advice with no deeper coaching process.

If you are unsure, the Discovery Call is precisely where we clarify that.

Practical Questions

FAQ ABOUT INTERNATIONAL CAREER TRANSITION COACHING

How is this different from general career coaching?

Most career coaching assumes your situation is unfolding inside one professional system. Here, we explicitly work with two or more systems at once — Japan and the wider international context.

Do I need to already know my next destination or role?

No. Many clients come precisely because they do not yet know what comes next. Clarifying that is part of the work.

I am not moving physically, but my role is shifting around Japan. Is this relevant?

Yes, if your professional identity and responsibilities are shifting in relation to Japan (for example: from a Japan-based role to a regional or global one, or from HQ to a Japan-focused position).

What matters is that your career meaningfully pivots around Japan and another system—not only whether your address changes.

Do you also work with men?

Yes. While many of my clients are women leaders and senior professionals, this service is open to all leaders navigating complex Japan-related transitions who resonate with this approach.

In which languages can we work?

I coach in English, French and Japanese. You may choose one language, or shift between them depending on the topic and your comfort. This allows you to think, feel and decide in the language that is most natural for each part of your experience.
